Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about my photographic process

1. What time will my photo shoot be?

Photo shoots are best taken at “golden hour”, this is about an hour and a half before sunset or an hour after sunrise. The exact time will depend on the season. This time frame is important because it delivers the most flattering light. We want to avoid harsh shadows on the face that can occur when you take photos outside of this “golden hour” time frame.

If you simply cannot make that time work then we can take a photo shoot in the woods! Here the light is diffused through the trees and we can get away with taking photos earlier.

2. What location do you generally recommend?

For the Waco area, I usually recommend Woodway Park. This park has a mix of backgrounds including: wooded areas, manicured lawn and Lake Waco.

For the San Marcos area, I’m a big fan of Purgatory Creek Park. It has several locations offering stunning backdrops.

Have another location in mind? I can be available to travel to whatever location you would like to take pictures. If it is more than 15 miles out of my zone then a traveling fee is applied.

3. How soon can I expect to see my photos after my photo shoot?

I usually take one week to complete the editing process. If you had a shorter session then it could take a couple of days.

4. How will I be able to view and download my photos?

After I have edited your photos I will add them to an online gallery. Here you can view and download the photos to any device you choose. There is also an option to buy your prints through the online gallery, making the whole process from photo shoot to photo album seamlessly easy.

5. Can I bring a change of clothes?

Yes of course! Feel free to bring extra clothes, just let me know at booking because I might add 10 minutes or more to your photo shoot time to allow for wardrobe changes.

6. What do you recommend that I wear to the photo shoot?

I recommend that you wear something you feel confident in! Make sure you put enough planning into your outfit and do not wait until the last minute.  I generally advise to stay away from bold patterns and all black. I always recommend medium or pastel colors and even white looks great in photos. Try wearing something timeless and avoid “trending now” looks. I want you to be able to look back on these photos without it feeling dated because of your outfit.

If your planning a family shoot try to coordinate the outfits. This can be as simple as just sticking to cool tones or all warm tones. I love it when families members wear layers because it adds a nice touch of interest to your photos.
